Metaway: an iOS app built in a few evenings
Metaway
Metaway is out on the App Store. I built it just to try the Xojo iOS target. It was super easy, and I probably built it in a few evenings.
What it does
Every photo you take carries hidden information: EXIF data, the place where you took it, and the date and time. If you share the photo, you share that too.
Metaway removes it. There are two ways:
- Clean a photo you already have. Pick it from your library, and Metaway saves a clean copy. The original is not changed.
- Take a new one. Shoot from the app, and the photo has no metadata from the start.
One thing to know
When you save a photo to your gallery, iOS stamps the date and time on it. If you take a new photo, that date is the same as the real one anyway.
For the cleanest share, copy the picture from Metaway and paste it where you want to send it. Then it carries nothing but the picture itself.
Everything on your phone
Your photos are processed on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere, and there is no account to create.
