WebStyler: three releases in two weeks

WebStyler 0.3.0 building a Bootstrap theme with a live preview

WebStyler is a free desktop tool that builds Bootstrap themes in a few clicks. It is made for Xojo Web, but the themes work on any website. The first version came out on January 17, and it has already had two more releases since then.

0.1.0: the first release

The first version did one thing: pick your colors and WebStyler builds the Bootstrap theme for you. No Sass toolchain to set up.

0.2.0: more control

One week later, version 0.2.0 added:

  • A page background color setting.
  • Rename and duplicate for themes.
  • Bootstrap 4 support. Until then, every theme was built with Bootstrap 5.

It also fixed the labels in the colors section, and an error when showing the Dart Sass license on macOS. The About menu moved from File to Help.

0.3.0: see it before you build it

The biggest change so far is the real-time preview. Change a setting and you see how it will look in your application, right inside WebStyler.

This release also added:

  • A border radius setting.
  • A minimum contrast ratio setting.
  • A “Check for Updates” menu item.

And it fixed a crash when clicking an empty area of the theme list, plus an error when building the same theme several times.
