Music: drop your files in, clear the queue

Music on macOS, playing a song from the local library

Music is my personal app for listening to my own music files. I want to keep my own music library instead of renting music from streaming services. It is inspired by iTunes, BeatBox and the Music app from elementary OS. iTunes and BeatBox are not developed anymore, and elementary’s Music only runs on Linux, while macOS is my main system.

This update closes two issues from GitHub.

Drop files and folders into the app

You can now drag files or whole folders from Finder and drop them into Music. They are added straight to the queue (#16).

Clear the queue

A new Clear Queue button removes the whole list in one click (#17).

Smaller fixes

  • On light backgrounds, the playlist text could turn white and be hard to read. Fixed.
  • The Clear Queue button now has the same right margin as Add Music.
  • The volume control uses the new minimum and maximum values of DesktopMoviePlayer.Volume.
  • The app is built with Xojo 2026r2.

macOS, Linux and Windows

macOS is fully supported. Music also runs on Linux and Windows. These are not my main systems, so please report any issue you find there.
